Along the Wertach creek there are bizarre boulders in the riverbed that remind us of bathtubs. Here we spend an afternoon and the kids can wade in the water, play pirates-on-treasure-island or flip stones. We can figure out what to eat and what not in case there was no supermarket nearby. We can also net dragonfly larvae and other animals in the creek or along its banks and study them under the magnifying glass or under the microscope back home. But back to the bathtubs. How did these come into existence? Of course, the kids know that water and sand shaped the rocks during the course of millions of years. But this is only part of the story. If you are interested to hear the rest, then join in!
